Stitching up the Old Man

Margaret Reid of Lyness stitched up the Old Man of Hoy! Her embroidery was based on a drawing by artist Harry Berry. Harry came by her house and drew the Old Man of Hoy on the fabric and Margaret got to work with her needle.

Here’s Margaret talking about the day she went to see Chris Bonnington and his team climb the Old Man.

What a wonderful embroidery of The Old Man. Would you be willing to sell it or make another one Margaret?
